Fleet 8 and Kona Midwest are proud to host Lola’s Lakehouse 2012 Kona North American Championships on Lake Waconia. Lake Waconia is the most popular high-wind lake in the Twin Cities metro area and has been the site for over 60 windsurfing regattas starting with the Windsurfer District 5 Championships in 1978. Our venue will be the Lake Waconia Regional Park on the southeast shore which offers all the amenities for a great championship regatta.

In a little over six years, Kona One-design has brought new life to the windsurfing race scene.  With everyone sailing on the same board and a sail size to match their weight, the playing field is level and balanced, letting true racing skills define the finishing order.  As one World-class sailor stated, ‘I believe the Kona One is the fairest sailing class today – even with all dinghy classes included.’
